DPG Welcomes New Senior Fellows
Date: June 30, 2025
As an independent think tank with its primary focus on strategic and security issues of critical national interest, the Delhi Policy Group (DPG) has kept pace with India’s increasing global profile, challenges and responsibilities.
It is our great pleasure to welcome Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj and Dr. Ashok Kumar Chawla to the DPG Senior Faculty from July 1, 2025.
Ambassador Kamboj will serve as Senior Fellow for International Security and Global Affairs. She brings with her nearly four decades of experience spread across bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, global strategy and negotiation. Her career has spanned key assignments at the United Nations, including as India’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York (2022-2024), as well as in Africa, Europe, and the Indian Ocean Region, bringing together regional expertise and a global outlook. Her brief bio-profile can be seen here.
Following a professional career spanning over three decades as a CSIR Scientist, followed by eight years as Advisor (Japan) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr. Ashok Kumar Chawla will assume the role of Senior Fellow for India-Japan Security Studies. Dr. Chawla is a vastly experienced Japan scholar and has over recent years been responsible for charting balanced pathways for India-Japan bilateral cooperation across all domains. His brief bio-profile can be seen here.
Ambassador Kamboj and Dr. Chawla will add significantly to the resident expertise of DPG’s Senior Faculty. In warmly welcoming them to their new role, DPG also looks forward to their contributions to its research and conferencing activities, which will now enjoy an even broader global footprint.
