National Defence and Security and Strategic Gaming Exercise (SGE) Training Module for IFS Officer Trainees of the 2024 Batch Sushma Swaraj Institute for Foreign Service

The DPG Senior Faculty delivered a series of lectures on various aspects of key national security and strategic issues for IFS Officer Trainees (OTs) of the 2024 Batch at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) on July 8, 2025. This was part of the scheduled training module for IFS OTs organised by SSIFS, covering both territorial and thematic dimensions of India’s defence strategy.
Vice Admiral Anil Chopra (Retd.) delivered a lecture on the “Nature of War and Armed Conflict in the 21st Century”; Lt. Gen. Deependra Singh Hooda (Retd.) spoke on “Managing India’s Territorial and Internal Security Challenges”; Commodore Lalit Kapur (Retd.) spoke on “Securing India’s Maritime Interests”; and Brigadier Rumel Dahiya (Retd.) conducted a Strategic Gaming Exercise (SGE) on current and future geopolitical scenarios.
Thirty-five Officer Trainees, including two from Bhutan, attended the lectures, which were followed by Q&A interaction.
