Ambassador Hemant Krishan Singh, Director General, Delhi Policy Group, addressed 35 Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Officer Trainees (OTs) of 2021 Batch and two Bhutanese Diplomats on “India’s Priorities & Challenges in the Free, Open and Inclusive Indo-Pacific” as part of the Induction Training Programme at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), New Delhi on June 1, 2022 (16:00–17:30 IST).

 

The address covered the salience of the Indo-Pacific region to the global economy and world order; the drivers of strategic competition in the region; India’s vision of the Indo-Pacific; the perspectives of other powers, including the US, China and ASEAN; the significance of the Indian Ocean and SAGAR; prevailing security architectures; regional balances; and takeaways for the future direction of India’s policy.

 

The address was followed by an interactive Q&A session with the Officer Trainees.
