DPG-JIIA 8th India-Japan Indo-Pacific Forum, Tokyo
The Delhi Policy Group (DPG) and The Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) jointly organised the 8th India-Japan Indo-Pacific Forum in Tokyo on November 4-5, 2025. This was the 11th edition of the India-Japan Track 1.5 Dialogue series, co-anchored by DPG and JIIA. The event was hosted by JIIA with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Japan. The DPG delegation was supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
The DPG and JIIA delegations were led respectively by Ambassador Hemant Krishan Singh, Director General of DPG, and Ambassador Sasae Kenichiro, President of JIIA.
Deliberations at the Forum were structured around two closed-door sessions on “Strategic Transitions and Global Order” and “Japan-India Cooperation – 10 Years of SSGP” held on November 04, which were followed by an open session on “Regional and Multilateral Coordination” held on November 05.
H.E. Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, Government of India, delivered a keynote video address at the open session. H.E. Ms. Kunimitsu Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Government of Japan delivered in-person remarks. This underscored the importance attached by both governments to this premier forum for strategic communication between think tank experts and senior officials, aimed at harnessing greater policy coordination on the wide-ranging challenges facing the Indo-Pacific.
Participants at the Forum included distinguished experts, senior government representatives, and diplomatic officials from the Embassy of India, Tokyo. They underlined the Forum’s growing policy relevance to promote concrete cooperation under the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership in support of regional stability, security and prosperity.
