| At the national level, DPG organised a major seminar on "Review of Disaster Management in India" on August 29, 2017 in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India. The keynote address at the event was delivered by Mr. Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home Affairs. Recommendations flowing from the Seminar have been presented by the DPG to the NDMA and can be seen here. |
| In South Asia, DPG organised the ninth in a series of roundtables on BBIN Sub-regional Cooperation in Dhaka, Bangladesh on October 15-16, 2017. The opening address at this event was delivered by Dr. Mashiur Rahman, Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. DPG's BBIN conferences have brought together a range of regional experts in the areas of trade and economic issues; transit and multimodal connectivity; energy-hydropower and water resource management; and people to people connectivity. Concrete recommendations flowing from each BBIN event are widely disseminated and conference reports are available on the DPG website. The DPG values its partnership with the Asia Foundation in carrying forward this process of fostering BBIN Sub-regional Cooperation. |
| In the Asia Pacific, Mr. Siddharth Shriram, Chairman and Managing Trustee, represented DPG at the 2017 Asia Pacific Think-tanks Summit held in Taipei from October 14-15, 2017. The event brought together senior representatives of 27 top think tanks from Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea, India, the US and Australia. Participants deliberated extensively on the emerging strategic dynamics of the Asia Pacific and the role of regional think tanks. Mr. Shriram presented DPG's perspective on "Roles of Think-tanks at Current Asia-Pacific Dynamics" in Session 1 of the Conference on October 14, 2017. |
| In New Dehi, DPG events included a roundtable interaction on October 25, 2017 with Mr. Keith Webster, Senior Vice President (Defence and Aerospace) of the newly launched US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). |
